The Naval Dental Center, Great Lakes is the military dental
treatment facility in the Chicago area. Our mission is to "Fuel the
Fleet with Dentally Healthy Sailors." Serving the Naval Station
complex, we provide the best possible comprehensive dental services to over
80,000 military personnel annually.
Dental treatment is rendered
primarily through five branch clinics located as follows:
Recruit
Inprocessing Branch Dental Clinic, USS RED ROVER, building
1523. This clinic provides the initial phase of dentistry to
recruits.
Recruit Treatment Branch Dental Clinic, USS OSBORNE,
building 1017 is the next phase of dentistry the recruit will experience with
ongoing dental services while attending basic training.
Naval
Station(NAVSTA) Branch Dental Clinic, Fischer Clinic, building 237 provides
dental services primarily to Training Support Command Students, NAVSTA and
component commands personnel.
The Prosthetic Laboratory (Type II),
building 152 provides complete prosthodontic laboratory services in support of
the prosthetic requirements of the command and other authorized
activities.
Dental Officers, Medical Service Corps Officers, Dental
Technicians, contract dentists, dental hygienists and dental assignments and
enlisted staff from four other ratings, have increased the staffing from 364 to
428. As one of the largest Dental Centers in the Navy, our team
continues to meet the increasing demands of our recruit, student and staff
population at Great Lakes.
When reporting for duty at Naval Dental Center
Great Lakes during normal working hours, 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday through
Friday, report to the Naval Dental Center, Headquarters, building 73, located on
the Naval Station (NAVSTA) Complex. If you arrive after normal
working hours, report to Central Billeting, Building 833 located on
NAVSTA. There is a duty section onboard USS OSBORNE at all times, if
