The Base Education Center offers classes and degrees through
seven schools and colleges including The University of North Dakota (UND), Lake
Region State College (LRSC), Central Michigan University (CMU), Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University (ERAU), and Park University (PU). Available programs
include Vocational Certificates, Associates Degrees, Bachelors Degrees and
Masters Degrees. Schools are fully accredited and approved for financial
aid. These classes are open to military and civilians on/off this
base.
Tuition Assistance (TA)is provided at a rate of 100% to most active
duty service members. Officers will incur a two year commitment if TA
is used.
Persons who enter active duty after 30 June 85 who enrolled in
the Montgomery GI Bill are eligible to use these benefits (100% tuition up to
$935.00 per month) after two years active duty. Those individuals
originally entitled to Vietnam era GI Bill benefits have been converted to the
Montgomery GI Bill. In-service benefits are 100% of tuition or
$935.00 per month.
The Veterans' Education Assistance Program (VEAP)
applies to military persons who entered active duty between 1 Jan 77 and 30 Jun
85. Under this voluntary program, the enrollee must contribute $2,700
to be eligible for full benefits ($300 per month for 27 months or $225 per month
for 36 months) either in or out of the service.
The Federal Government
may award monies to students based on financial need. These funds may
be used by active duty, civilians and dependents. Applicants must be
undergraduate students who are attending college at least half time.
A
variety of scholarships and loans are available. Specific information
is available from the schools or education counselors.
