LOCATION
Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NASJRB)Fort Worth is located in the Southern region of the United States. The base is in the North Central section of the State of Texas. The base is seven miles North/Northwest of downtown Fort Worth, Texas.
HISTORY
As part of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission's decision of 1993, Naval Air Station (NAS) Dallas was relocated to the previous site of Carswell Air Force Base. The newly established base was named Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth.
MISSION
NAS JRB Fort Worth's primary responsibility is to train and equip air crews and aviation ground support personnel in support of Deployment Readiness.

SPONSORSHIP
Every command will appoint a Command Sponsor and Indoctrination Program Coordinator, and he/she should receive train the trainer sponsor training. Potential sponsors in each command must first be trained before they can become sponsors.
Military members that require sponsors should first contact their gaining command and request a sponsor. Once a sponsor has been assigned he/she will ensure Welcome Aboard Letters to transferring servicemembers are prepared and mailed out (Please refer to OPNAV INSTRUCTION 1740.3a for complete details).
TEMPORARY QUARTERS
The base operates on a Monday thru Saturday schedule. During drill weekends, reservists receive PRIORITY for billeting onboard NAS Ft. Worth. Billetting is usually more available during the week on a Space-A basis.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU ADD YOUR NAME TO THE HOUSING WAITING LIST UPON YOUR ARRIVAL AT NAS FORT WORTH.
Should you fail to add your name and LATER decide you have a NEED to move into base housing, your name will go on the list based on THE DATE YOU PLACE YOUR REQUEST. There is NO GENERAL DELIVERY available at NAS Fort Worth.
To forward your mail to NAS Ft Worth your sponsor can present a copy of your orders and apply for a personal mail box for you at Bldg. 1509 (the Post Office). You can also call the base post office at DSN 739-6387 or Comm. 817-782-6387 and request a P. O. Box Number. You can then forward your mail to your P. O. Box. There is no charge for this service. This is a military P. O. Box. You will be required to show your orders upon arrival at the base in order to receive the combination to the box. If you reside on base this will remain your base mail address. If you move off base, you will be required to forward your mail to your new address.
