The Oklahoma
State Employment Service, (580) 357-3500, provides employee placement, testing,
Job Corps recruitment, unemployment insurance, and employer and tax
enforcement. It is a one-stop career center.
Service members
separating from the military can receive help in finding a job from Army Career
and Alumni Program (ACAP), (580) 442-2713.Many jobs are available in retail
sales. There are two major shopping malls and more than a dozen small
shopping centers in Lawton with many specialty shops.
Jobs are available
in food services. Many restaurant chains are represented in Lawton
(Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, Arby's, Pizza Hut, and many
others). There are also numerous specialty restaurants.
There
are several manufacturing companies in Lawton. Good Year Tire Company
has about 2,200 employees which pays $13-$15 per hour. Other
companies include Farm Fresh Bakery; Lawton Coca Cola Bottling Company; Pepsi
Cola Bottling Company; Lawton Publishing Company, and Warner Jewelry
Company.
Other miscellaneous employment opportunities exist at Telos
Federal Systems, a defense contractor; and Lawton Municipal
Airport. Many employment opportuninities exist in the health care and
technology areas. There are also employment opportunities with
non-profit agencies such as Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries, churches, and
others.
