REGARDING STUDENT ENROLLMENT
Alabama law requires a child
to be four years old on or before September 1 to enroll in the pre kindergarten
program, five years old on that date to enroll in kindergarten for the first
time. Transfers from schools in other school systems are usually
accepted.
The following documents are needed to register your child in
the local schools:
1. Child's birth certificate or proof of age
2.
Child's Social Security Number
3. Copies of report cards, unofficial copies
of school records or other verification of grade placement and credits
earned
4. Blue State of Alabama Certificate of Immunization obtainable at
Lyster Army Hospital on Ft. Rucker.
SPECIAL NEEDS
EDUCATION
Special needs programs are offered by all of the local schools
for children three years of age to students twenty-one years of age. These
programs all meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind legislation. Children
moving into local programs are usually re evaluated by the Local Education
Agency providing the service. Requirements for special needs classes include the
following:
1. Referral must be based on sound educational reasons
2.
Parents must give permission for testing
3. Tests must be administered by
approved personnel
4. Final placement is made by the Eligibility
Determination Committee
5. Parents must give permission for placement in
classes
