Elementary Age requirements:  Accord to Kansas Statute K.S.A. 72-1107, any child who is 5 years of age on or before August 31, 2004, shall be eligible to enroll in Kindergarten.  Any child who is 6 years of age on or before August 31, 2004 or who can show proof of having completed an accredited public or private Kindergarten course, shall be eligible to enroll in First Grade.

Elementary Physical Exam:  Children age 8 and under, enrolling in a Kansas school for the first time, must present the results of a Child Health Assessment completed within 12 months of school entry or within 90 days after school entry.

Records:  All new students to must provide grade cards, transcripts, records or other data of previous school attendance.  Proof of identity must be provided within thirty (30) days of enrollment.

Immunizations:  At the time of enrollment, proof must be shown that the students has completed or is making timely progress in meeting immunizations requirements.  For all students Gr. K-12, two doses of MMR vaccine are required prior to school entry.  The first dose must have been received on or after the 1st birthday. Four doses of DTaP or DPT, with the fourth dose given after four years of age.

Class size guidelines are set by the Board of Education.

All USD schools are fully accredited by the Kansas State Department of Education and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Transportation is provided for students who live 2.5 miles or more from their assigned school. There is no fee for transportation.

Many USD schools offer before/after school child care programs or clubs/activities. The times and fees associated with each program vary among buildings in each school district.

Some USD schools offer a summer school program for students K-12.
