POV IN-BOUND SHIPMENTS
The shipping processing center for
this area is Pontoon Beach MTMC POV Processing Center near St. Louis,
Missouri. It is about five or six hours driving time from
here. Taxi or limo service is available between the Lambert-St. Louis
International Airport and the Pontoon Beach MTMC POV Processing
Center.
POV OUT-BOUND SHIPMENTS
Again the POV Processing Center
for Fort Knox is Pontoon Beach. Most soldiers make arrangements to
fly out of the St. Louis airport and just drop their vehicle off on their way
out. The Transportation Office will give you a booklet called
"Shipping Your POV" that will tell you exactly what you have to do to prepare
your car for shipment. The government will pay to ship one vehicle
overseas. If you take a second vehicle, you must pay the shipping
costs.
POV CLAIMS
Any damages must be listed on DD Form 788,
verified by inspectors at the terminal. Any loss or damage discovered after your
inspection and departure from the pick up point cannot be verified by a
government inspector and a claim for those items may not be
honored. Describe the loss or damage on the back of your copy of the
DD Form 788. Submit this form to the claims office at your gaining
installation.
