Provides crisis intervention, counseling and referral in cases of
child and spouse abuse and family member suicide prevention. Also
includes the New Parent Support Program, stress management as well as parenting
classes. Parenting classes include Early Childhood (parents of
newborns up to age six); Active Parenting (parents of chidlren 2-12 years); SOS!
Help for Parents (parents of children 2-12 years); Systematic Training for
Effective Parenting (parents of children 2-12) and Step Teen (parents of
children over the age of 12). The Parent Aid program offers home
visitation and baby bundles for moms of babies born at Ireland Army Community
Hospital. Play Groups are also held for moms, dads and their
children. Play Groups are: birth to 18 months; 18 months
to 3 years; and 3 years to 5 years.
The Family Advocacy Program also
conducts the mandatory commander briefings on the educational/preventive classes
on child/spouse abuse and sexual assault.
