Traffic congestion exits in Columbia in some locations,
especially during rush hours. Parts of the northeast, where many new residents
choose to live (for example, in The Summit) and the western part of town (the
St. Andrews area) have big traffic problems, again mostly at rush hour. However,
Columbia does not have the congestion overall that many metropolitan areas have.
Fort Jackson can be reached from most parts of the city in less than 30 minutes
with 15 minutes or less being the commute time from many nearby
location.
