You are encouraged to contact the Housing Services Office before beginning your off-post housing search. A wide variety of housing is available in the surrounding communities, and all grades and family sizes can normally locate suitable housing within a reasonable time. The Housing Services Office maintains a current listing of available rentals and can provide guidance in selecting off-post housing and entering into rental contracts. Most leases are for 6 to 12 months and some 30-90 day leases can be obtained. Low-income housing is also available for eligible military personnel. Most rental agencies and many rental properties in the area require a non-refundable Application Processing/Security Check Fee, a non-refundable Pet Deposit, and a Security Deposit of at least one month's rent. A list of rental properties participating in the Rental Deposit Waiver Program may be obtained from Housing and the applications for the Rental Deposit Waiver and the Utility Deposit Waiver are available at the Fort Hood Deposit Waiver Office.

NOTE: There are many mobile home parks that not only provide spaces but also rent both furnished and unfurnished mobile homes.
