TRAFFIC:
All personnel operating a motor vehicle on post
are required to comply with the provisions of Fort Meade Regulations 190 and
Maryland motor vehicle laws. Post traffic regulations limit speed to
25 mph unless otherwise posted. Vehicles are required to reduce speed
to 10 mph while passing troops and to maintain a minimum clearance of five feet
from marching troops.
VEHICLE ACCESS AND REGISTRATION:
There is a
100% vehicle check. All visitors without vehicle identification or
proper military identification cards will be denied access to the
installation. First time visitors should report to the Visitors
Control Center located at the Reece Road and Rt. 175 entrance. A
military identification card or military sponsorship is required. In
addition, a valid driver's license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance
are required at time of sign-in.
ACCIDENTS:
All vehicle accidents
that occur on post must be reported to Military Police. Inquiries
regarding accidents may be directed to the Military Police Traffic Branch, (301)
677-3612. Minor accidents are recorded and serve as a basis for
future claims or insurance company information.
CRIMINAL
OFFENSES:
If vehicle operator is taken into custody for a criminal
offense (i.e. drugs, firearms, larceny, vandalism), appearance before
U.S. District Court (if civilian) or military commander (if military)
may be required.

RESTRICTED AREAS:
Meade Village and
Arwell Court in the Orchards at Severn, located in Severn, MD, are off limits
for military residency. Check with housing or the MPs for an up-to-date listing
before occupancy.

PASSPORT AND ID (Site):
Report to Building 4215, Ft.
Meade for passport information and assistance. Please call (301) 677-2506 for
information and appointments. ID information and processing is obtained at
building 4234 Huber Road. You may also call (301) 677-6031;
DSN 622-6031. The hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m..
Customers
must have proper documents such as marriage & birth certificates, DD Form
214 (as appropriate), orders and a picture ID (such as a state drivers license)
to register vehicles on post. Passes to access post are not
required.
DRIVER'S LICENSE (State):
The Department of Motor
Vehicles (DMV) is located at Rt. 2 (Ritchie Hwy), Glen Burnie,
MD. The phone number is (4l0) 768-7370, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mon.
thru Fri. and the third Sat. of each month or call toll free:
1-800-950-1682. The DMV examines and licenses drivers, conducts
driver training programs, titles/registers vehicles, issues identification cards
to adult non-drivers. Serves persons 16 and over. Fees
vary. State residency required. Service members who retain residency
in their home state are not required to obtain a Maryland driver's
license.
VEHICLE REGISTRATION (State).
You have 30 days, from the date
you pick up your vehicle from port, to register in Maryland. You
CANNOT have overseas tags past this 30 days.
You must register your
vehicle if you intend to drive on Fort Meade. The Directorate of
Emergency Services provides installation registration in Bldg 2234 Huber
Road.

license, state vehicle registration and
proof of insurance to the
PMO. Your name must be on the state registration, or you must bring a
power of attorney or notarized letter authorizing you to
register the vehicle

to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.
FISHING LICENSE (State):
Resident and
nonresident non-tidal (full season) licenses allow an individual to fish in the
fresh waters of Maryland from January 1 through December 31. To apply
for a license, contact the Department of Natural Resources, 580 Taylor Ave,

BOAT
LICENSE (State):
All boats over 16 feet must be registered with the
Department of Natural Resources, 580 Taylor Ave, Annapolis, MD. The
telephone number is (301) 974-3211.
HUNTING LICENSE (State):
Visit
the Department of Natural Resources, 580 Taylor Ave., Annapolis, MD to apply for
a basic license which allows non-residents of Maryland to hunt all legal game in
season except deer during bow and muddleheaded and migratory
waterfowl. Bow and muddleheaded stamps and migratory waterfowl stamps
can be purchased for use with these licenses. Applicants must furnish
a clear copy of either their driver's license or voter registration card to
establish state of residency and their resident hunting license to fulfill
certificate of hunter safety requirements. The DNR phone number is

FIREARMS REGISTRATION:
If you live on Fort Meade,
you must register your firearms with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Bldg
2234 Huber Rd. Those E-4 and below must store their firearms at the
PMO unless you have a letter of exception from your
commander. Firearms owned by those E-5 and above may be kept in
quarters, but must still be registered. If you live off post,
Maryland does not require you to register your firearm. Hours for
processing firearms registration on the installation are: Monday to
