Fort Meade is located only 15 minutes from the
Baltimore/Washington International Airport. Typically, personnel
arriving to Fort Meade take a taxi or request their sponsor provide
transportation from the airport. See Contacts/Links for more
information.
Rush hour in the Washington Metro area may seem like it
lasts all day, but the heaviest hours of travel by highway and Metro are from 7
a.m. to 9:30 a.m. each weekday and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. each weekday
evening. HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lanes tend to be the fastest
way to travel on major highways in the Washington area, but you must have two or
more people in the vehicle. It's wise to allow for more time to
commute during inclement weather when traffic throughout the area is routinely
slow.
