To meet this goal, the SARC assists victims in clarifying choices regarding medical exams, treatment, investigative process, interaction with his/her command, and additional support personnel they may wish to see.  The advocate also provides basic techniques of crisis intervention, reinforcement of explanations, information for emotional, medical, and legal follow-up as well as a "presence" during legal and judicial proceedings.
