Even if daily care is not required - ALL PARENTS should make
secondary arrangements for their school age children in the event of school
delays, early release, and school vacations. Prepare your child(ren)
in advance so they understand what to do during such times. Making a
solid plan and reviewing it with your child(ren) will reduce stress on unusual
days when you may not be home to receive them after school.
Fort Drum
School Age Services (SAS) program offers before and after school care as well as
holiday, and school vacation care. Be aware that not all school
districts provide transportation to the on post site.
Some of the area
schools also offer before and after school (SACC)programs geared to those
students whose parents work. See the listing below for representative
information within the local school districts.
Also check with Family Child
Care (FCC) to find a caregiver within your assigned housing area.
Based
on availability of care in your area each family must individually assess the
best option for their children and family. See the education section for the
names and telephone numbers of the various schools if you require more
information.
Extended Day Care Options for School Age
Children:
School Age Child Care (SACC) programs are available in the
following school districts: Most morning programs begin at 7:00 am
and after school close at 6:00 pm with the exception of Watertown City School
District and Black River Elementary which close at 5:30 pm.
Watertown
City School District offers SACC programs at the following locations -Wiley,
Sherman, Knickerbocker, Starbuck, North Elementary, and Ohio (after school
program only until 5:30 pm). Cost: $6.55/day 1st child and $3.70/day for each
additional child. Program closes at 5:30 pm.
Indian River Central School
District offers SACC programs at Evans Mills and Philadelphia Primary. Cost:
(before school care)$5.80/day and $3.35(2nd child), (before and after school
care)$8.40/day for the 1st child and $5.25 (2nd child). Before school care
begins at 7:00 am and after school program closes at 6:00 pm.
Carthage
Central School District offers SACC both before and after school programs at
Carthage, West Carthage and Black River Elementary Schools. The
program closes at 5:30 pm at Black River and 6:00 pm at Carthage and West
Carthage.
South Jefferson Central School District offers after school
programs only at Wilson, Mannsville, and Sholtz Elementary buildings. The
program closes at 6:00 pm.
1000 Islands Central School District offers
both before and after school programs at Clayton and Cape Vincent
Elementary. The programs close at 6:00 pm.
General Brown
School District offers before and after school programs at Brownville/Glen Park
and Dexter Elementary schools. The program closes at 6:00
pm.
Belleville Henderson offers after school care only. The program
closes at 6:00 pm.
Lafargeville offers after school care only. The
program closes at 6:00 pm.
