Fort Detrick does not have a shuttle nor is there a public
shuttle from the airports, train, and bus stations. Contact your unit
or your sponsor for transportation arrangements.
Air
Transportation: To reach Fort Detrick/Frederick you can use 3
Airports: Reagan National (54 miles), Dulles International, (45
miles) and Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) (55 miles).
FORT
DETRICK DOES NOT HAVE A SHUTTLE FROM THE AIRPORTS!
Airport Shuttle
Service: There are many civilian Airport Shuttle Services which offer
24 hour door-to-door transportation from BWI, National, and Dulles Airports to
Frederick/Fort Detrick. Cost is approximately $54 - $110 for 1 person
and $5 - $8 for each additional person. 24 HOUR ADVANCE NOTICE IS
RECOMMENDED although shuttles are available without 24 hour notice at the
following pick-up areas: BWI and National outside the baggage claim
area. Dulles is at 2F outside in the parking lot. They
accept cash and major credit cards.
Bus
Transportation: Greyhound bus departs Dulles at 1120 and arrives at
1540 fee is $16, bus departs National at 0955 and arrives at 1255; and departs
1240 and arrives at 1540 fee $14. Baltimore has a bus but does not
offer a bus stop at BWI fee is $12. Arrival at Frederick bus
station.
TransIT: From Frederick bus station, take
the TransIT, Route 30 bus to Fort Detrick. Schedule starts at 0610
and stops at 2100.
Rail Transportation: MARC train departs
Airports to the Union Station cost approximately $6. Take the
Brunswick Line to Frederick cost $7. NOTE: There are only
three trains that leave Union Station for Frederick. The times are
1605 arrives 1737; 1710 arrives 1850; and 1830 arrives
2007.
Taxi Service: Civilian taxi service is
available to a variety of local areas. Fare for trips from Airports
to Fort Detrick is expensive and can range from $100 and up.
