MULTIFAMILY AND RENTAL HOUSING
Apartments and other rental homes are available in every part of the Pikes Peak region. As in most cities, rental choices tend to reflect the neighborhoods in which they are located. Large, new, amenity-packed apartment complexes can be found along major thoroughfares leading into the new northeast and northwest neighborhoods. Apartment choices in affluent southwest neighborhoods are generally limited and almost always expensive. Older apartment building in Colorado Springs' east, south, and southeast areas generally offer the most affordable rents.
CHRRS PROGRAM
By a direct order of the Commanding General, all service members arriving at Fort Carson must visit the CHRRS office, co-located with the Colorado Inn, before entering into any rental/lease agreement. The CHRRS office assists military families in locating suitable off-post housing and maintains nondiscriminatory listings of available apartments. Soldiers are advised on current rental costs, commuting time and environmental conditions. Information about neighborhoods, leases, deposits, and hazard insurance for personal property and sanctioned facilities is also available. Low income families are assisted in Obtain federally subsidized housing in the surrounding community.
