Cost of Living:  The cost of living in the Colorado Springs area can be perceived as high, especially if arriving here from a low cost-of-living area.  The highest out of pocket expense for most soldiers is housing.  The majority of soldiers assigned to Fort Carson live in the surrounding community, with only about 25% of families living on-post.
