Following is a list of local community agencies related to
domestic violence and a brief summary of the services they
provide. Contacts/Links has contact information on each of the
agencies listed.
10TH MEDICAL OPERATIONS SQUADRON/LIFE SKILLS
CENTER
Provides treatment for mental health problems for military
personnel only. They offer limited psychological testing, marriage
therapy (space available), individual therapy, family advocacy, child and spouse
abuse, family violence, and drug and alcohol evaluations.
CHILDHELP
USA/NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE HOTLINE
Provides crisis intervention,
information & referral for anyone concerned with child abuse, parenting, or
any abuse-related issue.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DIVERSION
PROGRAM
Offers a 2-year deferred sentence option to misdemeanor domestic
violence offenders who accept responsibility for their crimes and are willing to
participate in counseling and alcohol programs; offenders are expected to pay
for treatment programs. Services include assisting victims and
families by increasing their awareness of assistance programs and how to obtain
the help they need; ensuring property and effective court action to program
participants whose deferred sentence option is withdrawn due to non-compliance
and/or re-offense; ensuring appropriate legal action for program participants
who complete the terms of their deferred sentences successfully, resulting in
case dismissal and absence of a criminal record.
DVERT - DOMESTIC
VIOLENCE ENHANCED RESPONSE TEAM
Enhances the safety of
high-risk-for-lethality domestic violence victims and their children while
increasing accountability for offenders. Services include providing
advocacy services to victims of domestic violence; offering specialized
investigation of stalking, strangulation, and other domestic violence crimes;
assessing the safety and welfare of all children on the DVERT caseload; engaging
in community policing, working closely with apartments, businesses, the faith
community, and citizens to reach and serve victims of domestic violence who are
not currently in the prevention system.
REWARDS PROGRAM
(DVERT)
Links victims of domestic violence to apartment communities which
are willing to waive fees, deposits and, in some cases, the first month's
rent. Services include waived security deposits and/or application
fees; assistance in locating free furniture; waived and/or reduced rent;
advocacy; referrals to other relevant agencies/programs; domestic violence
safety planning.
TESSA
This agency's purpose is to end the cycle
of domestic violence and sexual assault through education, intervention, and
treatment. Services include counseling; temporary shelter;
information and referral services; community education; support groups;
restraining order assistance; 24-hour crisis intervention; psychotherapy; court
support.
