Special Needs Reource Team (SNRT)

Children who have special needs are required to be staffed through the Special Needs Resource Team (SNRT) before admission to CYS programs and/or activities.  The SNRT is a comprehensive group of professionals that assists in determining the least restrictive environment for children or youth who require specialized childcare or activities. This team identifies the most appropriate child care program or activity placement for children with health issues, developmental delays, physical, social, emotional, learning or behavioral concerns.  As a parent, you are a vital member of this team.

All Child Development Services are DoD certified and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  For information, call the East Center at 719-526-5977, the West Center at 719-524-0151/0152 and the Annex at 719-526-3372/3171.  For registration information, call 719-526-1100/1101.

Pre-School Program

The part-day pre-school program, located at the Annex, is open to children ages 3 to 5 years.  Morning and afternoon sessions are available Tuesdays & Thursdays or Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Annex, Bldg. 6267.  For registration information, call 719-526-1100/1101.

Family Child Care (FCC)

Fort Carson also offers Family Child Care (FCC) homes, both on and off post.  FCC Providers offer age-appropriate activities in an environment that is nurturing and homelike.  The small group size allows the children to develop close relationships to their caregiver and the other children in the group.  FCC providers are also able to accommodate a variety of work schedules.  Providers in home-based care follow the same guidelines and training schedule as the CYS center-based programs.  For information, call 719-526-3338.Fort Carson offers Before and After School care for youth in grades 1-4.  Transportation is provided to and from on-post schools.  Full day care is available for school out days.  Winter Camp, Spring Camp and Summer Camp are run according to the District 8 school calendar.  Several clubs are run during regular programming, including District 8 teachers in homework and computer lab, photography, 4-H and Junior Achievement.
