The objective of the Family Advocacy Prevention and Education
Program is to assist soldiers and families in recognizing and meeting the
challenges of military lifestyles.
Several programs under ACS Family
Advocacy Program are set up to promote healthy parenting.
NEW PARENT
SUPPORT PROGRAM
This is a congressionally funded service consisting of social
workers and nurses who will help you learn to cope with stress, isolation, post
deployment reunions, and the everyday demands of parenthood.
Army families
who are expecting a child or who have children from birth to six years of age
are eligible to participate free of charge in all of the services offered. This
voluntary participation program is designed to;
promote healthy family
functioning through classes, support groups, home visits and
briefings.
PLAYMORNING
An interactive playgroup for parents and their
children up to the age of three.
Play morning every Thursday morning
0900-1100 at Family Readiness Center, Parent of Multiples first Wednesday of
each month
0930-1100.
FIRST TIME EXPECTANT PARENT WORKSHOP
A
command sponsored 2.5 hour workshop that helps prepare first time expecting
parents with information they need to go through this challenging time. Topics
include Community Resources, Fetal Development, Parenting Skills, Nutrition,
Baby Blues and Shaken Baby Syndrome.

1,2,3,4 PARENTS!
A program for parents who have children
1-4 years of age. Topics discussed include: Ages & Stages,
Building the Bond, Discipline Skills, Avoiding Accidents & Problems, Choices
& Consequences and Encouragement. Topics are provided in
3 sessions.

A three session program for parents of
children aged 5-12. Learn about Discipline,
Communication, encouragement, Developing Responsibility and Winning

ACTIVE PARENTING OF TEENS
A
program for parents who are going through the teen years with their
children. Teaches parents to communicate effectively with their
teens. Parents learn to encourage appropriate behavior using positive
reinforcement and open communication. 956-3738.

Information for remarried couples with children. Topics include
the predictable stages of a blended family, effective communication, resolving
conflicts, building the couple relationship, discipline and dealing with the
