Youth Sponsorship Program
The purpose of the Youth
Sponsorship Program is to facilitate the timely integration of dependant youth
into new surroundings when transitioning to a new military
installation. Youth sponsorship provides youth 8-18 the opportunity
to discuss and deal with issues that occur during frequent moves. It
helps youth get in touch with their peers. Incoming youth are matched
with another youth that share similar interest to assist them with adjusting to
their new community. Youth that are PCSing to Fort Bragg who would
like to have a sponsor, call Youth Education Support Services 910- 432-1008 or
complete this information below and mail to address.

WELCOME, to Fort
Bragg! As with anything new, moving can be somewhat intimidating to
some youth. Our sponsorship program allows new youth to integrate
into activities and the environment in a timely manner upon
moving. We want to help you get in touch with your peers through a
smooth and unstressful transition.
Introducing you to Fort Bragg, other
teens on the installation and surrounding communities is one of our
missions. We want to ensure that you have a successful and less
challenging move by easing your transition. Our sponsorship program
will match you with other youth that share similar interest. They
will assist you with advance planning but most importantly, they will make you
feel at home.

A child and youth membership card (renewed annually) is
required for use of the center and participation in recreational, instructional,
and sports programs. Program information can be obtained by calling
the Child and Youth Registration Office at 396-1278. Our programs are
designed to attract teens by presenting them with the challenge of going beyond
program attendance and participation. The teens are encouraged to obtain
ownership of programs. Through participating in teen programs the youth can
create opportunities to discover new dimensions in their communities and within
themselves.
If you enjoy sports, become involved in community sports or
those in your schools. The sports programs are really good and the
students enjoy watching.
When you arrive here, be open to the change and
get to know people. Allow your parents to get to know your friends
and your friends parents. That will reassure them that you are
choosing your friends carefully. If you have any apprehensions or
questions, please contact someone in Youth Services or Army Community
Service. Both agencies will do everything to assist you in your new
surroundings.
SAFETY ISSUES/CURFEWSCumberland County has a
curfew in place for youth under the age of 16. The hours are daily
from 11:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. unless accompanied by a
parent/guardian. The City of Fayetteville enforces the Cumberland
County curfew.
Fort Bragg also has a curfew for youth under the age of
18. The hours are Sunday through Thursday, 11 p.m., and Friday
through Saturday, 12 a.m.
Teens caught out after curfew could get in trouble
with the Military Police, but most times, they will just escort you
home. Penalties will increase if you are caught more than once. Talk
to other teenagers after you arrive to find out what the trouble spots
are. You can easily find out where and who to avoid.
