El Paso has a sales tax of 8.25%. Sales tax is not charged to the
purchase of food. Sales tax is not charged on clothing for one weekend in the
year for the back to school rush this is usally sometime in August, The El Paso
Times newspaper will list which items are exempt from taxes during this
weekend.
El Paso Shopping Centers:
Bassett Center is El Paso's
centrally located mall that features Mervyn's and Target--and over 80 specialty
stores like Structure, Victoria's Secrets and Bath and Body Works. There's also
an expanded Cafe Plaza serving a variety of foods. Also situated on the grounds
are Office Depot, Ross Dress for Less, Dress Barn,and Costco. Open Mon.-Sat. 10
a.m.-9 p.m., Sun. from noon till 6 p.m. At the Geronimo exit.

El Paso's newest and most elegant mall, located on the west
side of El Paso, is SIMON--simply the best shopping there is. Dillard's,
