You are allowed to ship one privately owned vehicle at government
expense to or from an overseas area when permitted (some overseas areas restrict
shipment of POVs). The entitlement to ship an otherwise eligible POV
from overseas to the United States is not dependent on whether a POV was shipped
to the overseas area. The vehicle must be owned by the member or a
dependent of the member (member must show proof of ownership/registration or
lease agreement).
The Transportation Office has pamphlets which contain
information about shipment of POV's. POV's are picked up at the
Dallas or New Orleans ports, and arrangements must be made directly with
them.
To pick up your vehicle, ensure you have proper documentation
showing ownership. If you are picking up someone else's vehicle,
proper Power of Attorney is required. If you are relocating overseas from Fort
Bliss and are shipping your POV, please contact your Personnel Property Office
at your current duty station for entitlement and restriction.
The
Transportation homepage on the bliss.army website has several Informational Fact
Sheets, Publications, and Forms for you to download! Visit the
