Anchorage has an excellent public transportation
system. The local bus service is called the People
Mover. Unfortunately, there is no People Mover service to or from the
base.
There are several taxi companies in Anchorage. All are

website.
There is a Hertz rental car booth at the Military
Mall. See CONTACTS for information.
Car rentals are also
available at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport: Avis, Hertz, Budget,
National, Thrifty.
At the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport:
There is no military shuttle/taxi service. If your sponsor
does not meet you at the airport, you'll have to hire a taxi to get to Elmendorf
AFB.
The Armed Services YMCA operates a military welcome lounge near the
Alaska Airlines baggage claim area in the north terminal. The lounge
is located under the escalator. It's open 8:00 am to midnight
daily. You can call your sponsor from here if they didn't meet
you.
