Employment Documentation:
For
job search purposes, be sure to hand carry all employment records and documents,
resumes, SF 171, SF 50, transcripts, certificates and
licenses. Having these documents will greatly speed up your job
search.
Employment in the Anchorage area is fair to
good. Active transition times such as June through August and
December tend to offer better employment opportunities. Be prepared
to take an entry-level position to get your foot in the door.
Good
Prospects: Clerical, nursing, banking, hotel guest services, food service, and
retail sales. During the summer months the tourist season brings many
temporary jobs such as tour guides, tour bus drivers etc.
Fair Prospects:
Technical jobs
Poor Prospects: General Management, construction, Federal,
State, Municipal government. Turn over in professional positions
tends to be somewhat slow but when a professional vacancy occurs employers are
often hard pressed to fill it quickly.
