Housing on the local economy is available, but the supply is
limited. The following rent examples do not include utilities. A one bedroom
unfurnished efficiency apartment averages $550; a two bedroom unfurnished
apartment $777; a three bedroom unit $1032. Utilities average $70 to $300 per
month. Utility waivers may be obtained with appropriate documentation. Call the
Housing Management office at 377-1840 for details. The first month you can
expect to pay in excess of $1000, including utilities, to establish residency in
a two bedroom unfurnished apartment.
It is not recommended that you sign
any lease agreements or rental agreements without personally inspecting the
premises. Many properties in Alaska have unique characteristics and once you
sign, you will be obligated to live there.
