Deployment is a fact of life for military members and their families.  The Family Support Center offers a variety of programs and services to help cope with the hardships of a deployment. Before each deployment you will have the opportunity to attend a Deployment Information Fair where you will be given specific information about what to expect, services offered and how your family can contact you at the deployed location. Once the military member has left, the Family Support Center will keep in contact with the spouse on a weekly basis to offer assistance and services. The following programs are available to the families of deployed members.

Car Care Because We Care - This program is funded through Air Force Aid and pays for an oil change on your vehicle while your spouse is deployed.  Simply make an appointment with the Eielson Service Station, and then stop by the Family Support Center to pick up the oil change certificate prior to the service date.

Hearts Apart Telephone Calls - This allows you to call your spouse at the deployed location.  The Air Force states one phone call per week, however Eielson allows 2-3 calls per week for 15 minutes each.  Should the mission, plus increased number of phone calls prevent this, we'll fall back to the Air Force policy.  If your spouse has a phone number where they can be reached, call 377-5888, give the operator your name and your spouses phone number.

Give Parents A Break - Free childcare is available twice per month to families affected by deployments.  To receive your certificate for free childcare provided by the Child Development Center, please call Family Support at 377-2178.

Pizza Feast - Our monthly get together for deployed families.  Why not come out and meet other families of deployed members have dinner on us, get the kids out of the house and get tips on family separations.  Events are normally held at the Community Center on the last Friday of the month, 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Must RSVP the day before the event.  Call 377-2178 for food and fun!

Two Seasons Dining Facility - The Eielson dining facility is now opening its doors for deployed families for Wednesday evening meals.  They serve some great food and have a friendly, family atmosphere.  If you plan on attending, call the dining facility, 377-3269 or 377-2417 the Monday prior to let them know.  The dining facility is also open to families for Sunday brunch.  No prior notification is necessary for Sundays.

Free Bowling - The bowling alley offers free bowling for deployed families.  You can bowl 3 games free on Monday evening between 6-8 p.m.  Please call ahead for availability.  The bowling alley has the list of deployed families.

Swimming - The base gym offers a $1.00 discount for the deployed families who utilize the base pool.  Please let the staff know your spouse is deployed prior to paying.

If you have questions about deployment issues or you would like to get more information on available programs, please contact the Family Support Center at 377-2178.
