"Kids in Touch with Kids" is a pen pal program that allows youth
who are preparing to move to correspond with another youth at the receiving
base. There are many opportunities for youth 17 and older in the areas of fast
foods, services, retail sales, and life guards.
For younger teens,
volunteer opportunities are abundant. From the hospital to the
chapel, teens are welcome to volunteer their talents!

one of the two base pools in the summertime. Eglin also has a Community Beach
Center directly on the Gulf of Mexico. People go water-sports crazy during the
summer. You can even rent equipment to join in the fun.
Teens around here
pretty much dress like teens anywhere! There is one large mall in the area. When
you arrive, visit the local mall to see how everyone is outfitted. Remember,
this is a warm climate so clothes tend to be light and airy. You will see lots
of sandals, shorts and T-shirts. No heavy wool coats needed for the winter but
you will need a jacket.
If you want to drive around the town, you must be
at least 16 years old. That is the minimum age to obtain a Florida Driver's
License. You can get your Learner's Permit at the age of 15. If you are under 18
and do not have a valid Driver's License from another state, then you must drive
under a Learner's Permit for six months before applying for your
license.
You will be extremely busy when you get here because there is so
much to do. Don't forget to contact the Eglin Youth Center to get a Pen Pal. He
