The Eglin Housing Office urges you to work with their Housing Referral/Relocation Specialists.  They will assist you with rentals, leases, and/or purchase agreements for all off-base housing.

ALL military members are required to check in with the Housing Office PRIOR to signing a lease agreement.

All enlisted students and single permanent party members below the rank of E-4 who have been granted permission to live off-base must request the BAH Application Form from the Housing Office prior to requesting BAH through the Finance Office.

The North West Florida area is supportive of the requirements for housing of military personnel assigned to all area bases  Off-base housing within reasonable commuting distance to the base is available.  The rental facilities in the area range from apartment complexes, duplexes to single unit houses.  Most apartment complexes have restrictions on number of children and pets, and have expensive pet deposits and fees.  Three and four bedroom apartments are somewhat limited. Houses for rent are the standard two, three or four bedroom, one or two bath with a carport or garage.  Four bedroom rentals are rare; all ranks may experience an extended search time if four bedroom units are required; the cost for these units may exceed BAH.  Before military members seek off-base housing, they are required to check with the Housing Office (Bldg. 10800, #37 Hatchee Road) for a briefing and counseling.  Experienced personnel will assist you with off-base rental of houses and apartments, as well as ensure that the rental agreement includes an appropriate military clause.

All personnel are required to notify the Housing Office of their off base address as soon as housing is located.  Housing office customer service hours are 8am-4pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Tuesday and Thursday hours are 8am-3pm. Telephone - 850-882-4533

The Eglin Law Center states that if you are going to rent housing in the local area, any lease agreement is negotiable, and military clauses that provide for lease termination without penalty in the event you PCS, separate, or obtain base housing might save you money and hassle.
