Lancaster and Palmdale provide extensive shopping
opportunities. Both feature virtually every national and regional
retail store, making it unnecessary to travel outside the Antelope Valley for
most goods and services.
Lancaster's main shopping area is located on
Valley Central Way just off California State Highway 14 at exits
for avenue I or J, about 30 minutes from base. Palmdales'
primary shopping area is anchored by the Antelope Valley Mall, the area's only
covered shopping mall, located on West Avenue P, just off the California State
highway 14 at the exit for 10th Street, about 40 minutes from base.
Also
popular are the outlet stores in Barstow, located one hour west of the base off
California State Highway 58, and in Ontario, about one and a half hours south of
the base near the intersections of interstate highways 10 and 15.
Large
mall complexes in the Los Angeles area are one to two hours away via California
State Highway 14.
