The Navy Branch Medical Clinic (BMC) is an outpatient facility
only. Unfortunately, there is no military treatment facility in the
Atlanta area with an emergency room or inpatient capability. The BMC
is open from 0700 until 1600 Tuesday through Saturday. Primary care
appointments are necessary prior to reporting for chronic, follow-up, or routine
care. Personnel with serious medical problems should not hesitate in reporting
to the clinic as soon as possible for care.
The Medical Officers assigned
to the BMC are the Primary Care Managers (PCM), or "gatekeepers" for all Active
Duty personnel in the Atlanta area. Authorization from the PCM is required prior
to making an appointment with a medical specialist.
Physical
examinations are performed on Wednesday and Friday mornings for Active Duty
personnel, and Saturday and Sunday mornings for Reservists. Appointments for
physical examinations can be made by calling the BMC Physical Examination
Department.
Ft. McPherson does not have a hospital, only a
clinic. Active duty use Eisenhower Army Medical center at Ft. Gordon
in Augusta, GA for hospital treatments. Lawrence Joel Army Health
Clinic at Ft. McPherson provides a variety of health care services for a large
military beneficiary population. Active duty sick call is held
0730-0845.
