Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority operates a commuter rail
service between Fitchburg and Boston that provides service to the area with
stops in Ayer and Shirley.
The Ayer station is approximately
three miles north of the main cantonment area.
The Shirley
station is about one-half mile west of Main Post. This service
consists of 10 trains per day en each direction. Rail system and Boston subway
route schedules are available at ACS.
The nearest commercial and
municipal bus service is located in Leominster. The local bus can be
used to connect with intercity bus service between Boston and Rutland,
Vermont.
Logan International Airport, located in Boston is the largest
commercial airport in the region and there is a smaller regional commercial
airport located in Worcester, Massachusetts. Very limited airline
schedule.
Airports are also in nearby Manchester, New Hampshire and T.F.
Green Airport in Providence, Rhode Island
