Tucson and Davis-Monthan's medical community flourishes with
approximately 15 hospitals providing a combined total of approximately 3,258
beds. There are many hospitals, Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO's),
medical centers, psychiatric hospitals, skilled nursing centers, behavioral
treatment and substance abuse facilities, women's health care centers, urgent
care facilities, and top flight social service agencies serving every
need.
Also, being a center for internal wellness and wholeness,
integrative and naturopathic medicine abound, as well as a number of alternative
modes of healing.
Davis-Monthan Medical Facility is a well maintained 30
year old building, with new construction completed in 2004. The 525
member staff, including approximately 50 providers and 13 dentists, offer a full
range of basic medical and dental services. However, no obstetrical
or Emergency Room services are available at the military treatment
facility. A wide range of referral services are provided through the
TRICARE provider network.
TRICARE: Effective 1 April 1997,
TRICARE 520-512-1420, became available in this region. TRICARE is a
regionally managed health care program for active duty and retired members of
the uniformed services, their eligible family members, and
survivors. There are three options available for obtaining health
care: TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Standard, and TRICARE
Extra. For additional information regarding TRICARE contact

The TRICARE - Active Duty Family Member
Dental Plan (FMDP) is administered by United Concordia Companies, Inc. in Camp
Hill, Pennsylvania. It is a voluntary comprehensive dental plan
available to family members of all active duty uniformed services
personnel. When the active duty member (sponsor) enrolls family
members in the FMDP, a monthly premium is paid through payroll
deduction. The plan has cost shares, maximums, and limitations
similar to typical civilian dental group plans. The amount covered by
the plan ranges from 100 percent to 50 percent, depending on the type of
service. Family members must receive dental services in the United
States, Canada, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico.
Detailed
