By the most conservative estimate, each year 1
million women suffer nonfatal violence by an intimate partner, both male and
female. And by other estimates, 4 million American women experience a
serious assault by an intimate partner during an average 12-month
period. Domestic violence is not limited to women, as men suffer at
the hands of women and other men in intimate relationships as well.
These
assaults are unnecessary and there is help available to all, men, women, and
children who suffer physical or emotional abuse and trauma.
