Welcome to NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex! Dam Neck is located on the Atlantic coast, five miles south of the downtown resort of the Virginia Beach and has 3.2 miles of the some of the most beautiful beach front in Virginia. Dam Neck rests on over 1,100 acres of highlands, marshes, coastal beaches and sand dunes
HISTORY:
The Dam Neck site is located on Virginia's Atlantic shore near where the first Jamestown settlers landed, where the infamous Blackbeard and other pirates were said to have buried treasures, where battles of the Revolutionary War were fought, where Blue and Gray clashed during the Civil War, and where German submarines sank American shipping vessels within yards of the beach during World War II.

MISSION:

POPULATION SERVED:
NAS Oceana, Dam Neck Annex is host to 12 tenant commands. Over 5,600 instructors, students, and support personnel live or work at Dam Neck. Each year, over 17,000 students graduate from one of over 200 courses of instruction.

Congratulations on your assignment to NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex, Virginia. We would like to welcome you aboard. Contact your gaining command to request a sponsor to assist you with your transition or you can use the Sponsor Assignment Aid website in the Contact/Links. The SAA e-mails your request (with an assigned tracking number) to your gaining command's sponsor coordinator, who will assign a sponsor based upon the information you provide.
Students and permanent staff must stop at the Quarterdeck, located in Building 127 (Taylor Hall) at 1912 Regulus Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23461. The station Junior Officer of the Day (JOOD) will endorsed your orders. The quarterdeck is manned 24-hours a day and can be reached at (757) 492-6234.
TEMPORARY QUARTERS:
There are three Navy Lodges in the Hampton Roads area. Please call in advance for to make reservations. Pets are not allowed.
Service members also have the option of lodging at the Hampton Roads Regional Visiting Quarters, previous known as (BEQ and BOQ). Family members are allowed to stay in quarters with the service member.
The regional Housing Office also maintains a list of temporary/short-term options on their website.
RELOCATION ASSISTANCE:
FFSC offers one-on-one consultations providing information about both military and community resources such as schools, housing, employment, and recreation. Other services include local 'Welcome Aboard Packets' and the Lending Locker. The Lending Locker provides short-term loaner household items such as dish packs, tri-fold mattresses, pack n play, tables and chairs to personnel on PCS orders. CRITICAL INSTALLATION INFORMATION:
Hampton Roads is designated as a Critical Housing Area. Finding housing to meet your needs can be challenging therefore you may want to plan for an extended stay (1-2) weeks at a motel or Navy Lodge while searching for housing. Upon checking in, contact the Regional Housing office for information regarding base housing, the Rental Partnership Program and local housing
Military childcare centers accept children from infancy to kindergarten ages and include developmental programs. You may want to consider family home care in military housing or civilian childcare options due to the lengthy waiting list for the military Child Development Centers
