The installation Human Resources Office is also a source of Federal

employment. Their employment counselors can explain the spouse
preference guidelines.
SPOUSE EMPLOYMENT PREFERENCE FOR APPROPRIATED
FUND JOBS
Spouse preference for federal civil service positions is afforded
through the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. In
order to be eligible, the spouse must be already serving on an excepted
appointment overseas or on a career or career-conditional appointment at the
time the PCS orders are issued. The spouse must be placed on leave
without pay or be separated from their appointment due to the PCS in order to
receive spouse preference priority placement
consideration. Registration for departing spouses may be accomplished
30 days prior to sponsor's reporting date at the new duty
location.
SPOUSE EMPLOYMENT PREFERENCE FOR NON-APPROPRIATED
FUND Spouse employment preference will be given to eligible spouses
of active duty military members. To be eligible, the spouse must be
married to the military sponsor before the military member was assigned to the
current duty station. To receive spouse preference, the applicant
must submit a copy of the sponsor's PCS orders and a copy of the marriage
certificate. Non-appropriated fund positions on base are located in
the MWR facilities such as the Child Care Center, Base Gym, and other MWR
departments.
