The Rappahannock Council on Domestic Violence (RCDV) is a
certified domestic violence program and provides services to meet both emergency
and long-term needs. A 24-hour hotline gives callers access to crisis
intervention, information and referrals. The Haven, RCDV's emergency shelter,
houses up to 23 people and they may stay for up to 2 months while they work on
their personal goals. Advocacy is offered to those in the shelter and living in
the community. Programs are offered in the J&DR Courts, in conjunction with
other agencies and services providers, or on an individual basis.
Groups
are offered to victims, young children, teen girls, teen boys, and perpetrators.
Other services include teen dating, violence prevention, community education,
and client transportation. The RCDV also provides shelter for homeless families,
battered women, and children.
There are additional shelters and 24-hour
hotlines in the area of domestic violence that provide refuge for women and
children who are victims of domestic violence. The King George
Department of Social Services can make referrals.
