In order to provide consistent data to be used in comparing school systems, the ranking criteria is based on scores provided by the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) exit tests.  Schools are EXEMPLARY, RECOGNIZED, ACADEMICALLY ACCEPTABLE or LOW PERFORMING.

Go to Texas Educational Agency website for accurate and up-to-date information on school rankings.

EXEMPLARY - at least 90% of all students and each student group passed each section of the TAAS, which includes reading, writing and math; a dropout rate of 1% or less for all students and student groups; and an attendance rate of 94% or more.

RECOGNIZED - at least 75% of all students and each student group passed each section of the TAAS, which includes reading, writing and math; a dropout rate of 3.5% or less for all students and student groups; and an attendance rate of 94% or more.

ACADEMICALLY ACCEPTABLE - at least 35% of all students and each student group passed each section of the TAAS, which includes reading, writing and math; a dropout rate of 6% or less for all students and student groups; and an attendance rate of 94% or more.

LOW PERFORMING - does not meet acceptable standards.

These TAAS tests are extremely important for all students, expecially the graduating seniors - in order to graduate a student must pass the TAAS test.
