Services Provided:  The Family Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Center of South Texas, The Women's Shelter, Inc. is a private, non-profit agency that offers a variet of choices for victims of domestic violence and secual assault.  Services are offered in an atmosphere that permits an individual's free choice to design a violence-free future for him/herself.

BATTERER'S INTERVENTION AND PREVENTION PROGRAM - A TURNING POINT

Services Provided: A Turning Point offers group counseling for batterers, utilizing an educational format.  Referrals are most often made through the court system and Community Supervision and Corrections.  A Turning Point's services are also available to any individual wishing to end their pattern of violent behavior.

NON-RESIDENT PROGRAM

Services Provided:  Provides support to non-residents in the areas of counseling of battered women and sexual assault victims.  Legal services and case management.

Eligibility:  Any battered woman or victim of sexual assault.     Fees:  None

OUTREACH SERVICES

Services Provided:  Our advocates reach out in Kleberg, Bee, Refugio, Aransas, Live Oak, Jim Wells, Brooks, Duval, McMullen, San Patricio, Kenedy and rural Nueces counties.  Outreach services provides a victim with short-term supportive counseling and advocacy in an area close to where the victims live.  For outreach services, call the crisis hotline 24 hours a day at 1-800-580-4878.  

Eligibility:  Victims of domestic violence or sexual assault.  Fees:  None

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Recruitment, training and supervision of a volunteer program within the Women's Shelter.  

Eligibility:  Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer to work with battered women, children, and sexual assault victims.    Fees:  None

SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIM INTERVENTION (SAVI)

Services Provided:  Victim advocacy.  Victims of sexual assault will be referred to a local victim advocacy program, which can provide quality support and assurance for victims of sexual assault during medical, legal, and investigative procedures.  Reduce sexual assault incidents by providing sexual assault awareness and prevention education and training.
