The base has a variety of shopping and dining facilities. Located on the base are: Commissary, Base Exchange, Shoppette, Gas Station, Subway Sandwiches, Anthony's Pizza, Robin Hood, Plantation Coffee, Bowling Center Snack Bar, Columbus Club, and the military dining facility.
The Commissary and Base Exchange are modern facilities located immediately to the left after entering the Main (East) Gate.
The Commissary is well-stocked with a good variety of name brand items. It includes a delicatessen, offering fresh meats, cheeses and deli sandwiches. Coupons, food stamps, credit and debt cards are accepted.
The BX offers a variety of merchandise including gift items, clothing, hardware, electonics, stereo equipment, sporting goods, toys, and gardening supplies. The Exchange offers layaways, check cashing services, AAFES Star Card, Western Union, and accepts major credit cards.
Columbus offers a good selection of shopping and dining opportunities. The area is filled with small plazas and a mall that includes Sears, Penneys, and specialty shops. Larger malls are located within one-hour drive of Columbus. Other shopping stores include McRaes, Super Wal-Mart, Big K-Mart, Lowes and many more.

The state sales tax is 7.0 percent. There is an additional 2 percent sales tax for restaurants and motels/hotels. Mississippi imposes sales tax on the sale of new and used vehicles. The tax is paid at the time of registration. Application of registration must be made within 7 business days from the date of sale.
