Assistance in locating employment on the installation and in the
surrounding communities can be obtained by contacting the Family Support Center
Employment Readiness Program located in Building 1114, or by calling (662)
434-2790. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:15
p.m. Additional services provided by ERP include: resume, cover
letter and application assistance; job skills training and personal
development workshops; career counseling; teen employment program; comprehensive
employment resource library with videos and books available for checkout; and a
computer/typing area for resume preparation.
Service members separating
or retiring from the military and their family members can receive job search
assistance from the Family Support Center. The majority of employment
opportunities available to the Columbus AFB family members can be found in the
Columbus, West Point, and Starkville areas.
Jobs are readily available in
retail sales and food services. While the major shopping mall is
located in Columbus, many smaller shopping centers and specialty shops are also
located in the West Point and Starkville areas. Lowe's, Wal-Mart, and K-Mart
offer retail employment opportunities in Columbus.
The larger
manufacturing companies are located in Columbus; however, several smaller
companies are located in West Point.
