Civilian Personnel Office: the Air Force Personnel Center website is the only point for the posting of job announcements and for submission of resumes for Department of the Air Force civil service employment.

Non-Appropriated Fund job postings and applications are handled on-base through the Services Division Human Resource Office.

The Base Exchange (AAFES) and Commissary (DECA) applications are taken either on-site or at the respective websites.

Military Spouse Preference provides priority in the employment selection process for military spouses who are relocating as a result of their military spouse's PCS.  Spouse preference does not apply to separation or retirement moves.  Spouses must be found best-qualified for the position and may exercise preference no more than one time per permanent relocation of the sponsor.  Preference does not mean that positions will be created or made available especially for military spouses or that spouses will be given any special appointing authority.  Preference does not provide any guarantee of employment. Preference is limited to DoD employment (appropriated and non-appropriated fund jobs, including installation Exchange); it is not applicable to employment with other federal agencies.

If you are a current civil service employee and will be coming to Columbus AFB with Military Spouse Preference, the following items are a must: AF resume; SF-50 showing that you are on Leave Without Pay (LWOP), SF-50 showing your appointment, your latest performance appraisal, and your spouse's orders. You must make an appointment with Civilian Personnel and they will maintain all of the information at Columbus AFB.

Other Spouses should have a federal resume on file with the Personnel Center at Randolph identifying Columbus as a location of choice. Several agencies provide government employment on Columbus AFB.

Other federal government agencies in the Columbus and surrounding areas:  U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, U.S. Postal Service, U.S. District Court Clerk, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Weather Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Customs Service and U.S. Dept. of the Interior.
