Columbus Municipal School has 8 elementary schools in the
district. The Columbus neighborhood elementary schools serve students
in grades preK-4. All K-4 classrooms are self-contained and have four
multimedia computers with high speed internet connections. Elementary
classrooms focus on reading, mathematics, language arts, and the social
sciences.
Students to be enrolled in kindergarten must be five years of
age on or before 1 September. Students wishing to enter the first
grade must be six years of age on or before 1 September.
All schools in
the Columbus Municipal School District (CMSD) are accredited by the State of
Mississippi an by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, a regional
accrediting agency. Students attending CMSD in grades K-8 will be
required to wear a school uniform.
