MUST KNOW ITEM: If you ship a vehicle, the government
will not pay to ship another vehicle on the Alaska Ferry System. Your
vehicle's antifreeze must be prepared to -60F and have a good strong
battery. If your vehicle arrives between October and March, complete
winterization is needed either prior to shipment or immediately upon arrival to
include a block heater, oil pan heater, synthetic gear and transmission oils as
a minimum. When dropping your vehicle off for shipment, ensure that the clerk
knows to ship it all the way to Fairbanks (the port code should be YCY VIA
YC6). Some clerks at the ports are not aware of this. If
they question this request, tell them to refer to their overseas consignment
guide for Eielson AFB, AK. Clear personnel will pick up their
