Per OPNAV 1110.21, personnel reporting to China Lake are required
to report to the Family Housing Office prior to negotiating any agreement for
off-base housing. Local realtors have listings on apartments, houses
and mobile homes for rent or lease. Ridgecrest has a wide variety of
2, 3, or 4 bedrooms apartments or condos for rent or lease. There are
also many 1- 5 bedroom tract homes. Modest to luxury custom homes
located in tracts or on acreage are available. It is always a good idea to run
your contract thru the base legal assistant to ensure everything is accurate and
legal. Make sure the lease includes a special military clause that will allow
you to break the lease due to military circumstances with minimal financial
obligation. The Personal Financial Program Manager at the Fleet and
Family Support Center can give you this information and much, much
more.
RENTAL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (RPP)
In order to help China Lake
employees acquire housing in the community, the Family Housing Office
established the Rental Partnership Program. The RPP Program maintains
information about the local housing market and directs military members to
available housing in Ridgecrest and the surrounding Indian Wells Valley area.
