Eastern North Carolina abounds with festivals throughout the year
for both fun and fund raising. Hunting, fishing, and water sports are among the
most popular recreational activities in Eastern North Carolina. A variety of
exciting leisure activities (bowling, swimming, fishing, tennis to name a few)
are available to active duty military and their family members, in addition to
DoD civilians aboard the Air Station.

Boy
Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownies, and Cub Scouts are a few of the clubs available
in the local area. The Recreation Center in Havelock and MCCS
Activities aboard the Air Station provide more opportunities in this area and
there are numerous clubs offered in the schools. Cherry Point: Sports
programs are provided for both male and female patrons as well as co-ed team
play. Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Flag Football, and Volleyball are
general areas of competition. In-line hockey and others will follow
as special interest groups express their need for more variety of competitive
play.
Havelock: Sports include Soccer, Little League, Babe
Ruth League Baseball, Softball and T-Ball. The Chapel offers such programs as
Protestant Sunday School for Pre-Kindergarten to adults; a Catholic Children's
Choir; and Vacation Bible School. Call the Memorial Chapel for
further information. Seasonal special activities are held throughout
the year. More popular events include the Cuddly Critter Tea Party,
Diaper Derby, and the Children's Christmas Party. More exciting
events are in the forecast for all ages to become involved. Once
again the youth council will play a vital role in assisting with their ideas of
fun age appropriate activities.
