Before military members seek off base housing
accommodations, they are REQUIRED to check with the Base Housing Office for a
briefing and counseling. The Housing Office distributes publications
listing apartments and houses for rent and houses for sale. The
Family Support Center also has limited informtion on local housing. Our local
newspaper, The Post & Courier, is also a good resource for real estate
info.
Local Cost of Housing:
Apartment: 1BR ($425-$650),
2BR ($450-$800), 3BR ($600-$950).
House Rental: 1BR (N/A), 2BR
(N/A), 3BR ($550-$1200), 4BR ($650-$1200).
Cost of off-base housing is
relatively reasonable. Before entering into a lease agreement or
purchasing a home, see "Contacts/Links" to determine what your Basic
Allowance for Housing will be for this area. Knowing the facts
beforehand will help you make an informed decision on how much your budget can
absorb and what you can afford.
