Education Certificates:
The
Department of Education issues seven different certificates for school-related
personnel. The applicant is limited to one subject per
application. Each additional subject area requires a separate
application form and fee. The fee is
non-refundable. Applications take approximately six months to
process. When applying for the certificate, inquire about the
Interstate Agreement on Qualification of Educational Personnel. Ask
specifically about states that have issued a certificate to you previously and
about your training institution. Effective 1 June 1987, persons
applying for their first Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate are required to
obtain a satisfactory score on the Pennsylvania Teacher Certification
Test.
Temporary Teaching Permit:
A Temporary Teaching Permit may
be issued to a non-Pennsylvania prepared candidate who has met all requirements
for Pennsylvania testing program. The purpose of the Permit is to
allow the candidate time to register for and take the tests and to submit the
results to the Bureau of Teacher Preparation and Certification
(BTPC).
Pennsylvania Teacher Intern Certificate Program:
The
Pennsylvania Teacher Intern Certificate Program is designed to help individuals
who possess a baccalaureate degree but who have never been certified in any
state obtain Pennsylvania teacher certification. A list of the
