Deployment and Mobilization Support Readiness program will assistance and support with Family Readiness Groups, Pre-planning for family assistance contact the Relocation Program Manager for further information and assistance at 717-245-3685.
Our FRGs called Seminar 21 Family Support Group provide a vehicle for families to develop friendships while they gain information about the unit and community. We provide information and referral, and share support during deployments. Through successful FRG efforts, many spouses have developed a more positive attitude toward themselves, a better understanding of why deployments are necessary and the Army mission to maintain readiness in addition to the standard readiness requirement monthly Video Tele Conference's (VTC) are provided to for all combat zones.

Carlisle Barracks and Unit Commander receives assistance from Army Community Service (ACS) in the form of education, awareness and outreach in the following area: Army Emergency Relief; Consumer Affairs and Financial Assistance; Employment; Family Action Plan; Mob and Deployment Readiness; Family Advocacy; Information and Referral; Relocation, Resource Library and making referral to other agencies. Through prevention and education programs and family activities, FRGs can help families overcome problems that are likely to impact adversely on Soldier performance.

Helpful Hints Before Moving:

* Learn as much about the area as possible.  If possible, call the Chamber of Commerce and get information on the area.   * Inquire about temporary housing until permanent housing is available.   * Open a new checking account in the area.   * Set up utilities and make deposits.   * Look into the cost of car insurance.  Pennsylvania has a very high rate for insurance.   * Don't forget to change address at the post office.  Change addresses on periodicals.  * Have release forms signed to have medical/dental records transferred to new doctors. * Find out the cost of living. * Have a garage sale or clean out and give away items you no longer need.

Helpful Hints Once You Arrive:

* Have a telephone line hooked up. * Become friendly with the relocation staff.  They may have useful information and advice. * Ask questions. * Meet new people.  Go to health club, tourists attractions, take classes, volunteer, etc. * Make sure bills are paid.  Sometimes forwarded mail takes time and bills may not arrive on time
