There are many resources available on Camp Pendleton to assist
parents with "healthy parenting" issues.
The Children, Youth and Teen
Program (CYTP) governs all the child care programs such as day care
centers/child development centers (CDCs) and the New Parent Support Program
(NPSP) here on base. They provide resource and referral services to
parents with children from 12 weeks old to 18 years old (still in High
School). Please contact the CYTP Resource & Referral Office for
guidance and information (see contact/links).
The New Parent Support
Program (NPSP) provides supportive services to families expecting a baby or with
a child five years old or younger in the home. Take advantage of the
classes and programs they offer. For example, "Baby Boot Camp" is a
class that teaches everything there is to know about taking care of an
infant. "Mommy and me" is a support group for mothers with a baby
under 12 months. "Play Morning" is a fantastic way to get out of the
house with the kids and have a great time with simple crafts, toys, songs, and
camaraderie; geared for families with children age five and
younger. Parenting classes and workshops discuss topics designed to
make your life easier and help you raise healthy, cooperative
children. Communication, discipline for the whole family,
self-esteem, and much more is being taught in this class that lasts over nine
weeks. You may attend one class or all nine
workshops. Contact NPSP for class dates, times and
locations. NPSP also offers a Home Visitation Program which is open
to all families interested in having an opportunity to meet one on one with a
licensed registered nurse or clinical social worker in the comfort of their own
home to learn more effective parenting techniques. Call to request
service.
Counseling services by licensed counselors and social workers
are availabe for the entire family, for parents and children of all
ages. Counseling services are also available by the Command/Unit
Chaplain's office.
